a mail from my senior (few pointers for the oracle technology)

Ashutosh,

1. For Oracle Apex – to start with go here, http://apex.oracle.com/i/index.html   and create account so that you can try it. On this very page there is getting started link. That will help you in learning about the technology etc.

2. The other tool I recommend is XML Publisher as Oracle is using this as main reporting tool in EBS now.

Oracle Forms and reports are now not much used in new projects so you may not want to spend more time on this.

The other points I discussed are

Search for Oracle online documentation and read at least following books, I have marked chapters.

1) Application developer guide.  (http://download-east.oracle.com/docs/cd/B14117_01/appdev.101/b10795/toc.htm )

2 Selecting a Data type ,

3 Maintaining Data Integrity Through Constraints,

4 How Oracle Database Processes SQL Statements

5 Coding Dynamic SQL Statements

6 Using Procedures and Packages

7 Using Triggers

2) Oracle Concepts. (http://download-east.oracle.com/docs/cd/B14117_01/server.101/b10743/toc.htm)

Chapter 1to 9 , 13, 21 , 22

3) Oracle 10g and 11 g new features– Read on Google andtry them out. To try the features, you can download and install Oracle XE on your PC

From here – http://www.oracle.com/technology/software/products/database/xe/index.html

Let me know when you need more inputsJ. Feel free to discuss your doubts.

Regards

Sanjeev
